News::The Chaos Engine hits Steam and GOG.com this month

Abstract Games, the folks responsible for porting Hotline Miami to PlayStation 3 and Vita, has also been working to restore The Chaos Engine / Soldiers of Fortune. The classic top-down shooter will have some additions, like revised graphics and 16-directional movement, but such features are largely optional. By all accounts, this won't be another painful awful remake -- instead, it's being pitched as a "restoration." Exactly what I want.

The new version is hitting Steam, GOG.com, and Get Games on August 29, 2013 for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Normally, it'll be $9.99, but you can save a buck by pre-purchasing now.

"There are many fond memories of The Chaos Engine and I wanted to make sure that the game was true to the original without losing its charm during the restoration process," says Bitmap Brothers founding member Mike Montgomery. "The option to play in the original ‘Classic’ mode with the added option to play in ‘Enhanced mode’ with its refined pixel-perfect finish is a clever way to satisfy all enthusiasts!" Being able to play this again in 2013 is pretty freakin' cool.
