The Xbox One won’t see release in Asia until late 2014, Microsoft’s Alan Bowman told the Wall Street Journal. The delayed launch is a part of the publisher’s “staged approach” to the new console’s launch.
The delay is due to Microsoft fine-tuning the console for the Asian markets. Bowman pointed to fine-tuning the Kinect camera to work in smaller rooms, as those in cities with high population density like Singapore or Hong Kong tend to have much smaller areas in which to play games.
Once launched, the Xbox One will only be available in select Asian markets, including Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Korea and India.
